What is The Muddy Outlaw Dash?
It’s a Wild West 5k bounty hunt for the dirtiest desperado this side of the Mississippi! You’ll trail that outlaw up and over, under and around some of the rootin’ tootinist obstacles outside the OK Corral. Expect 10-12 obstacles. Join our posse or form yer own (teams of 4)! Forming your own Posse is not necessary and considered a fun option for you and your buds. If you are racing with a Posse you will get an individual time as well as a combined Posse time.
The Muddy Outlaws are Adventure Runs. We won't light ya' on fire, shock ya' or hog tie ya'! What we will do is create a course to be challenging, fun and unique.
Who’s running the show?
The Muddy Outlaws are put on by the fine folks from Too Cool Racing, LLC. They have been puttin’ on outdoor adventures for nearly 7 years. These folks are Texas based friends that are dedicated to keeping your Texas dollar in the great state of Texas (not takin’ it all the way up to New York or Chicago!) Too Cool Racing is committed to keeping over 90% of racer fees here in the state…Texas Beer, Texas BBQ, t-shirts from local Texas vendors, Texas staff, Texas charities…oh, you get it!
What makes a Muddy Outlaw race different than all the rest of them obstacle races?
It’s all about racing in the great state of Texas. Our obstacles are Texas themed…like the Barn Door Bramble or the Longhorn Leap. We don’t pack you in like sardines neither! Our waves are limited to 100 gunslingers for the Dash . Our events are capped so yer not sittin’ around until high noon on Sunday waitin’ for the awards, raffle and fun to start. We give a portion of every race entry to a Texas based charity also. Oh, and we ain’t gonna make you pay for yer grub! Beer and BBQ are always included.

What should I bring?
- Your photo ID (required at packet pick-up).
- A change of clothes.
- Gunslingin’ abilities.
- An initialed, signed, and dated copy of the participant waiver if you did not sign one online.* This will help save some time in line! Click here to download.
What divisions are there?
The Muddy Outlaw Dash has the following divisions for men and women:
15-19
20-29
30-39
40-49
50-59
60+
Posse-get yer friends to join you (teams of 4). We will combine all 4 team members times. We will do awards for 1st-3rd and overall posse winners*
*note-you will also receive an individual time and qualify to win awards.
What should I wear?
Yer gonna’ get dirty. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in! There will be hoses to rinse off after the race so’s not to get that purty vehicle messy for the drive home!
Can I pick up my friend's packet?
Yes, but you will need the following three items:
- A copy of your friend's photo i.d.
- A signed letter from your gunslingin’ pals stating that you are allowed to pick up their packet.
- A signed copy of the participant waiver. Click here to download.
Race packets will not be shipped to participants.
Can my kid compete?
Muddy Outlaws are open to participants 14 years old and older. Under 14 must race with an adult.
For any participant less than 18 years old on race day, your Ma or Pa or other legal guardian must be present during packet pick-up to sign a waiver and release for you. If your folks are unable to be present at packet pick-up, please click here to download the waiver.
Can I get a refund? Can I transfer my registration?
Sorry, no refunds* but you are allowed to transfer your registration to another gunslinger (check the race page for deadlines). Send us an email with the following info:
- Name of gunslinger who is being replaced
- New gunslinger’s name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, birthday, gender, and t-shirt size
Muddy Outlaws are on rain or shine…in fact, the more rain the muddier!

You bet!! Our Outlaw Dashes are dependent on our volunteers! Contact director@muddyoutlaw.com to help! Remember that a direct portion of our proceeds benefit a Texas based charity.
What about rules?
Although we know them Outlaws don’t play by many rules, we upstanding citizens do! Every gunslingin’ racer is required to stay on the course, complete all the obstacles and play nice in order to be officially ranked. Any participant caught playing dirty will be disqualified. We want all our gunlingers to stay on the right side of the law!
